JEE Main 2016 – Joint Entrance Exam

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2016 is an all India common engineering entrance examination which is conducted for admission in various engineering colleges and courses all over the country. CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) announced this common examination in place of AIEEE and IIT Entrance Exam. IIT JEE is being conducted in two parts, JEE Main and JEE-Advanced. About JEE 2016

JEE Main exam is for admission in IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology), NITs (National Institutes of Technology), CFTIs (Central Funded Technical Institute) and IIEST Shibpur, for admission to its dual degree programme. JEE Advanced is for admission in Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), and Indian School of Mines Dhanbad.

JEE Main Exam

JEE Main Exam has two papers, Paper-1 and Paper-2. Candidates may opt for either or both of them. Both papers contain multiple choice questions.

  • Paper-1 is for admission in B.E./B.Tech (online and offline).
  • Paper-2 is for admission in B.Arch and B.Planning (offline only)
JEE Advanced

Students who qualify JEE Mains can appear for JEE Advanced examination. Approximately 150,000 students qualify to appear for JEE Advanced examination.

  • A candidate must be passed in the final examination in class XII or it’s equivalent exam, also known as Qualifying exam.
  • Candidate can appear for the JEE Main 2016 exam if he/she is appearing for qualifying exams.
  • A general / OBC candidate’s Date of Birth must be on or after 1st October 1991. However, for a reserved student it is relaxed up to 5 years, i.e. 1st October 1986.
  • Candidates must passed in all five subject in class XII.
  • If the candidate has passed class XII in or before year 2012, he/she is not eligible for appearing in JEE Main 2016.
  • A candidate can attempt to pass JEE Main exam for three times

JEE Main Application Form is available Online in the official website jeemain.nic.in. The tentative dates for releasing notification of JEE Main Application Form is in the first week of december 2015. The candidates have to apply through Online mode only, no other mode is applicable. The last date of the application will be on 11 January 2015.

JEE Main 2016 Admit Card

JEE Main Admit Card 2016 will be available to download from the official site jeemain.nic.in. The tentative dates for downloading is from 2nd week of March, 2016. Candidates can download JEE Main admit card online by entering Application Number, Date of Birth, etc. The admit card contains all the details regarding the examination centre, roll number of the candidate, timings etc.

JEE Main 2016 Exam Pattern

JEE-Main Exam has two papers, Paper-1 and Paper-2. Candidates may opt for either or both of them. The JEE Main Exam Pattern is explained here in detail:

  • The test will be of 3 hrs duration
  • There will be three parts in the question paper consisting of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics having equal weightage.
  • Total no of Questions in exam is 90
  • Each question is allotted 4 (four) marks for the correct response. ¼ (one fourth) marks i.e. one mark will be deducted for indicating incorrect response of each question.

JEE Main 2016 Result & Merit List

Candidate can check their JEE Main Result 2016 from the official website as per the scheduled date mentioned below. Answer Key will be published after the JEE Main 2016 Exam. All India rank is declared by CBSE on the basis of JEE Main score and marks occupied by individuals in the 12th examination.

JEE Main 2016 Seat Allocation Process and Admission Procedure

Candidates shall be offered admission based on their choices and All India Ranks of JEE (Main)-2015 through a Seat Allocation Process to be announced later. The candidates will be able to make their choices online for branches/programmes and institutes at appropriate time.

Candidates are advised to regularly visit the JEE (Main) website www.jeemain.nic.in for latest information.

The verification of documents would be done at the time of Seat Allocation Process/admission. In cases where the rank is revised due to rechecking/revaluation/re-totalling of board marks, the revised board mark sheet will also be verified at the time of seat allocation. The purpose would be to verify different records regarding identification, age, qualifying examination, state of eligibility, category and disability (if any) of the candidate. On failing to produce any of the authentic documents, the candidate will not be considered for admission.

SC, ST, OBC and PwD candidates will be required to produce original certificate issued by the competent authority at the time of Seat Allocation Process as well as at the time of admission, failing which they will not be considered for admission.
